What Is Leo Long Kansas City Guns ‘N Hoses?

Who Is Behind Leo Long Kansas City Guns ‘N Hoses?

John Brown is a legend in the sport of boxing and the mastermind behind Ringside, Inc., the world’s largest distributor of boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) gear and apparel.  He started boxing competitively as an amateur at the age of 13 and became an amateur boxing coach while in college.  He continues coaching to this day.

In 1978 John worked as an officer for the Jackson County Juvenile Department, managed Tomahawk Boxing Club and got Ringside, Inc. off to a running start. Ringside has subsequently been a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year passion of his and John considers himself extremely lucky to be able to make a living doing what he enjoys.

In 2005, John combined his love of boxing with his deep respect and admiration for our Police, Fire, and EMT public servants at the 1st Annual Leo Long Kansas City Guns ‘N Hoses event.  As he reflects on the upcoming 7th annual celebration, he is proud of the way our corporate community embraces this tribute to the families of the men and women who put themselves on the line for us each and every day.

Who Benefits From This Event?

100% of the proceeds from Guns ’N Hoses benefit local charities. The majority has gone to the Kansas City Crime Commission’s Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE), which provides financial assistance to the spouses and children of local sworn police officers, firefighters and emergency service personnel who are killed in the line of duty. The balance supports amateur boxing programs in the Greater Kansas City area.
